- Boldness (Colossians 4:2-6)

well i was wondering if there was a way to make a small group who meets for a bible study to create ideas for helping the comm. like posting something in the bulletin to let people know there is a group of youth who are experienced in a lot of work like painting, siding, yard work&anything else people need&we're willing to help
ReplyDeleteI thought the message regarding being a kindom worker was inspiring. Wow! Knowing that the youth can make such a difference in just one short week! I think as adults we get wrapped up in the stress of our daily lives and we loose sight of some of the points discussed. I know for me personally I am involved in my community and I feel the things I do reflect Christ, although I know I do not devote enough directed time to prayer. I think I frequently feel I struggle with holiness and although I try to make good choices I know I fall short (guess that is why I am only human) I did love one of the part of the Colossians readings which reflected having conversations filled with grace and making every thing you do an opportunity. Again thank you Brent and Youth and the leaders for all you have done for our community and the inspiring message.

ReplyDeleteI love the idea of starting a local mission small group for youth (and adults). If you are a youth or adult who is interested in helping form a local mission small group please come see me (Brent). I know the Mission’s Committee has discussed this same type of idea recently! Maybe we should be joining forces! The small group could meet to find, research, plan, and promote local mission projects the youth could take on. I love this idea! If you are interested in this idea please see me!
Thank you for writing,
Brent

ReplyDeleteThank You for listening and reflecting on the worship we offered. I am glad to hear you found it inspiring and you felt challenged to create opportunities within your own life! If any of these opportunities come to fruit please sign back on and share the success you found in doing the Lord’s work! We can all use the encouragement!
May God be with us all as we strive to live more pure and holy lives! Only with His help can we take steps closer.
Thank you for your thoughts and comments!

You have peaked my interest with your suggestion of an idea that could be used at Shiloh.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I have been mulling over an idea in my mind - and the recent Enquirer article on Gail Dean and her Living Waters project brought it all together.
When I was teaching Middle School, the students ran a TV station which aired "local" news every Friday. The students did the interviews, the video taping, etc. Each Friday, the 10 minute presentation was a delight!
What if Shiloh could have it's own TV station and run through events upcoming, review past projects, introduce new church members, etc.? Instead of just rolling through announcements, the "TV program" would be more entertainment oriented, in line with the younger generation coming up. The stories could be led off with scripture and/or follow the 5 fruitful practices. After a few months, I'm sure that the taping would fall into a routine, based upon the calendar season.
Perhaps the Pizza and Prayer group would have some interested TV personalities!!
Thanks for all you do - and your inspiration to all those around you!

Toni,
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! Our new 2 day after school program (SURGE After Hours) would lend itself to this! On Tuesday's we are going to have about 45 minutes of "serious" time followed by 45 minutes of FREEDOM! I am trying to organize different "classes or sessions" to offer during this serious time. I think we will have homework help, Finical Peace (for youth), a Bible Study, an art type class? and maybe this media team would be a cool session to add. If we can find someone free on Tuesday's from 2:00 to 4:00 who would not mind helping middle school students create media this would be AWESOME! Anyone willing to help??????
Art Class or Media Team Adult Leader please see Brent!!!!
